MEET PASTOR TERRY STARKS

"Ain't No Pastor Like Pastor Terry"

Known for his unmistakable Memphis accent, infectious sense of humor, and memorable catchphrases like "The devil is a liar!" and "You better ask somebody!", Pastor Terry Starks has become a beloved voice of encouragement, faith, and practical biblical teaching. His authentic delivery, relatable storytelling, and ability to connect God's Word to everyday life have impacted countless people from every walk of life. Whether preaching to a congregation, teaching a Bible study, or speaking one-on-one, Pastor Terry's passion is simple: to help people discover that, through Jesus Christ, every life can experience a fresh start and a new beginning.
Pastor Terry Starks' life is a powerful testament to God's redeeming grace and the transforming power of a fresh start.

Raised by a hardworking single mother, Terry grew up without his father, whom he would not meet until 1987 at the age of 29. Although their relationship was brief, ending with his father's passing in 2000, that experience deepened his appreciation for family, healing, and God's ability to restore what life has broken.
Like many young men growing up with limited opportunities, Terry desired a better life than the one he saw around him. After graduating from high school, he enlisted in the United States military, serving for three years before pursuing college. Still searching for success and eager to achieve it quickly, he was drawn into the pursuit of fast money through the drug trade.

Financial success came rapidly. Terry founded Mega Jam's Records and became the owner of a liquor store. From the outside, life appeared prosperous, but inwardly he was far from fulfilled. The tragic loss of his first wife to suicide became a defining moment that caused him to reevaluate the direction of his life. Though he recognized the need for change, he continued down the same path until his choices ultimately resulted in a five-year prison sentence. What appeared to be the lowest point of his life became the beginning of God's greatest work.

Before serving his sentence in Puerto Rico, Terry met and married Lynda, a Memphis professor whose unwavering faith and support would become instrumental in his spiritual journey. During his incarceration, Terry surrendered his life to Jesus Christ and experienced a life-changing new birth. Together, Terry and Lynda committed themselves wholeheartedly to serving God and advancing His Kingdom.
Following his release, Pastor Terry embraced a completely different future. He built a successful career as a sales manager for one of the nation's largest Toyota dealerships in Memphis, Tennessee.

Pastor Terry later became the business manager for NBA All-Star Anfernee "Penny" Hardaway, relocating his growing family to Phoenix, Arizona. It was there that both Terry and Lynda answered God's call to ministry and completed ministerial training through the Ministry Training Institute under the leadership of Drs. Alfred and Beverly Craig.

When Penny Hardaway was traded to the New York Knicks, the Starks family relocated to New York City. On December 11, 2004, Pastor Terry founded A Wiseman Christian Center in Harlem. Shortly thereafter, he received an unexpected call from his mentor, Dr. Frederick K. C. Price, inviting him to pastor Crenshaw Christian Center East in New York City. From April 2007 through July 2010, Pastor Terry faithfully led that ministry, preparing for the next assignment God had already placed in his heart. Years earlier, in April 1998, God had spoken to Pastor Terry concerning a vision of "Fresh Start—A New Beginning," inspired by 2 Corinthians 5:17. That revelation would eventually become the foundation of Fresh Start New Beginning Christian Church (FSNBCC), a ministry built on the unwavering belief that through Christ, every person can experience genuine transformation and a new beginning.

Today, Pastor Terry is known for his practical, life-changing teaching that connects biblical truth to everyday living. His messages are marked by authenticity, compassion, wisdom, humor, and an unwavering belief that no one is beyond the reach of God's grace. Whether addressing spiritual growth, emotional healing, financial stewardship, relationships, or personal purpose, he equips people to live victorious lives through the Word of God.
